Domarpresentation
Pattyn Suzanne ’Suzan’s Pride ’
In the beginning I was closely involved in the world of horses. I often saw at the horse shows grooms and riders with small Jack Russells. Up until then I had only owned sighthounds. I thought these two breeds will make a good team for hunting. It all started when we acquired our first Jack Russell in 1985. She was of English origin ”Hillfarm Julie”. I chose carefully theates for my beloved Julie and kept several nice bitches from these matings… lines going to Foxwarren and Jalus. (Old JRT breeder in GB long before the breed was recognised).
It was the same for my Parson Russells. The two who were to become my foundation terriers were born in 1991. A very special time in my life. All this was long before the breeds became recognised by the FCI.
In 1995 the Parson Russell had not long been recognised by the FCI and after 5 generations of breeding my own I decided to buy in new blood. A top class stud dog was needed. I found him Howlbeck Percy Special. He was a one in a million dog. He had it all, Presence, Attitude, when he moved round the ring he owned it. Not only was he an unbeatable show dog but a fantastic companion. He produced me several World Winners and European Winners. Along with the brothers Suzans Pride Tea Time and Tea for Two by the legendry Howlbeck Piper out of Howlbeck Timber Topper. These dogs are the foundation of my Parson Russells today.
I have bred under the Kennel name ””Suzan’s Pride”” the two breeds separately and never mixed them. I had my own line of Jack Russells since 1985. When at the end of 2000 the small Jack Russell was recognised in its own right by the FCI we had to confirm each dog. I even if we knew its pedigree they went into an initial register at our Belgium Kennel Club. We had to build up a three generation pedigree. It takes many years to do this.
In 2001 my JRT, Suzan’s Pride Doudou won the World Dog Show in Porto she was a pure European line… not a drop of Australian blood. In 2003 I imported an Australian bred Stud dog to use with my homebred bitches. Swynford Nirac. Since this time I have bred more than 120 National Champions, Several Inter Champions, 15 European Champions, 20 World Champions and 7 Reserve World Champions under the kennel name ”Suzan’s Pride”.
Since 2007 I’m judging several Terrier breeds, Basenji’s as I had them in my childhood in Africa and also Whippets, the hunting friends.
I judged in National, International, Breed specialties in Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Hungary, Italy, UK, Tchequie, Finland, Danmark, Norway, Estonia, Russia.
As a judge. What am I looking for… A good looking dog as near to the standard as possible with good temperament, terrier attitude with good movement, good reach and drive is essential. My winner will be the dog or bitch I would take home.
Wish you all the best and the most important is enjoy your show and return at home with your nicest and best friend.
